World-renowned for quality and innovation in a variety of different verticals, you can now experience the best of Sony in a smartphone. In an attempt to bring the division more in line with the company’s priorities, Sony has started phasing out all feature phone development in an attempt to cater exclusively to the smartphone market.
Sony founded its mobile division with the Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson in 2001. The partnership led to a variety of models that combined the expertise of both companies, resulting in mobile devices featuring expanded multimedia capabilities such as colour screens, video and audio playback as well as high-resolution camera. As of 2012, Sony bought out Ericsson’s shares in the venture and now wholly owns the mobile division.
